walking girl (with a little help)

The girls and I had a play group outing to Totland the other day. Nalani was thrilled to be able to join the fun, and has moved far beyond swings and sand when visiting the park!

(If you watch closely you’ll catch Melina’s cameo.)

Last night, Nalani climbed our short flight of stairs between the family room and kitchen in a matter of 60 seconds. Both Joey’s and my backs were turned. She’d never come close to climbing them before so I was shocked when I turned around while doing dishes and there she was!

Nothing like shiny holiday wrapping paper for motivation. Here she is!

getting ready for santa

Melina has been practicing hard for her preschool’s holiday show next week. She’s memorized two lines to recite from “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and loads of holiday songs for a singalong with all the families.

She also visited Santa yesterday, and for the first time since she was a baby didn’t burst into tears. She sat on Mommy’s lap next to Santa, and Mommy had to relay what she wants for Christmas (“Tinkerbell and pink things”) but she smiled the whole time and said “thank you” when handed a small candy cane.

New Wheels

Bike Seat

This month’s theme at Melina’s preschool is transportation, which seems all too appropriate given how much biking we’ve been doing. Mina got her first two-wheeler for her third birthday. It has no pedals and no training wheels, which is supposed to help her learn to balance. Look at the video to see how well she’s doing after just one week!

I’ve also started to pick her up from school one day a week on my bike, just like I did last summer. When I ask if she remembers she says, “I’m sorry Mama, I don’t remember.” No matter, it’s fun exercise for mama and fresh air for the little girl as we journey across town.
